THE DRUG PROBLEM IN THIS COUNTY IS DISTURBING. IT MAKES THINGS WORSE WHEN CHILDREN ARE INVOLVED. IF PARENTS ARE ARRESTED, THE CHILDREN ARE PLACED OUTSIDE THE HOME. IF THE CHILDREN CAN'T STAY WITH A FAMILY MEMBER THE DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN RESOURCES (DHR) GET INVOLVED. THE CHILDREN MOST LIKELY WOULD BE PLACED IN FOSTER CARE.DUE TO THE SHORTAGE OF FOSTER HOMES IN THIS COUNTY, THEY COULD BE MOVED SEVERAL TIMES. THE PARENTS MAY :GO TO JAIL, PAY A FINE, APPEAR IN COURT, GET ON WORK RELEASE OR GO TO STATE PAID REHAB, PLACED ON PROBATION AND THEN RELEASED!! SIMPLE AS THAT-- THE CRIME HAS BEEN PUNISHED!! **DURING THIS TIME, THE CHILDREN'S LIVES HAVE BEEN FOREVER CHANGED DUE TO THEIR PARENTS STUPIDITY AND LACK OF GOOD JUDGEMENT**. THE DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN RESOURCES WILL MOST LIKELY REUNITE THIS FAMILY AND ONCE THE PARENTS BELIEVE NO ONE IS WATCHING THEM, MOST LIKELY THEY WILL REPEAT THE CYCLE OVER AGAIN! SAD BUT TRUE.
IN MY OPINION, THE JAIL TIME SHOULD BE LONGER, THE FINE SHOULD BE HIGHER AND PROBATION FOR LIFE. ONE MORE STRIKE AND THEY WOULD BE OUT OF SOCIETY AWAY FROM YOUR CHILDREN MY CHILDREN AND THEIR OWN!!

MY GOODNESS--- What is the world coming too? We can't give honor to God in schools and in many public places but before Obama has even taken office a good ol' Alabama county is the first to honor him with a paid holiday. This is one of the most ridiculous things I have ever heard of! Each year, we face the task of keeping Christmas as we know it-- in honor of the greatest KING ever born, yet we now have a Barack Obama day in Perry county. Lord help us all!

On It's a little too early for that

Brent,
I think this forum has been a great way for citizens to voice their opinions. Anytime you give "a voice" to the public, you are going to have some problems. I have had an entire comment removed myself-- ( I did not use a cuss word!!)-- I do wish the comment, minus the word you said was a cuss word, had been posted. When people get involved in the discussions, it can get heated and should not cause someone to be offended. I agree that if someone uses the site to slander someone, the poster should be warned. However, everything negative is not slander! Anyone involved in public office or anyone giving their point of view are opening themselves up to questions! I do have a suggestion, why doesn't the Advertiser staff give a topic of discussion for the readers? I think you would have a good response from this! Thanks for giving the readers a chance to respond the events as they are happening.

President Bush faced the worst attack on America ever. This took place only eight months after he took office. This wasn't something he planned ahead of time for. His entire time in office was spent dealing with this and the war. A war that he has be critized for. I believe he acted based on the nations Top Security information. Colin Powell supported this information, as well as the majority of the nation's elected officials. By the grace of God our Military and leaders we have not been attacked since 9/11.

President Bush may go down in history as the worst President. I believe he just might one day be known as the one who kept America from being hit again!

May God bless our new leaders and may God bless and keep America and our MILITARY men and women safe.

This forum proves that many people feel like something should be done about what is going on. Want to know why nothing is being done? We don't like to "rock the boat" in a small town. This is not going to change if we choose to keep it in this blog. Thank God, we are the Majority in this county and in this state. If we let our guard down, our children will be subject to the teachings of the liberal MINORITY. Teachers and leaders play such a big part in the way our children see the world. We can't let that happen here or we soon will be facing issues, with our own children, that we are fighting against!

Graves-- Can you believe you and I are both AUBURN fans?? This proves this game has no political preferences
HUH?? My son is a 2007 graduate from Alabama, my hubby is Tide fan. We sent LOTS of money to Tuscaloosa but I could never root them on. My favorite game was in 02. We had tickets to the game. I had no idea where the seats were but to my surprise, we were sitting in the visitor in- zone, in T-Town. My husband was one of a few people in red and white in that section. We were the under dogs in that game but we pulled it off. Talk about a quiet ride home!

I was going to "correct" the decade, but steve42 got there first! The Alabama- Auburn game still has tons of excitement for the fans-- I hope this year is an upset to the Tide's season-- War Eagle!!

Likeit---- If you had read all of the post, you would see most of us said it wouldn't matter if it were the other way around. The assignment was wrong! Bigots and Hypocrites? Why the names? The fact is if a white teacher had told the students to write a "Love Letter" to McCain , racist comments would have went flying. This was not a RACIAL issue. Many people did not support him because they didn't support his ideas. A teacher should not give her political views to a group of 4th graders.

If the teacher used her nine and ten year old students to open a dialogue,(as you suggested), then she should be FIRED, PERIOD. -- CCOF
