I remember when school started after Labor Day. But, air conditioners were a rarity then. Oh yes, our new Elementary school had AC. But Adair and CCHS did not. When I graduated high school we only had a few select classrooms with AC. The trailers they parked out back had AC units. But every few years the school year seems to get longer. Back in the day, school started in middle September. The products of those years gave us the space race, atomic and nuclear weapons. As the bar is raised for learning, and the school year extended, the products are giving us lasers, cell phones, paint with nanodes that can be energized to block cell phone signals in theaters, work places, and National Security sites. We have gone from acetate albums to 8-tracks, to cassettes, to CDs, to mini CDs, (what a flop!), to micro chips. The students of yesterday have given me a cell phone that I use to talk on, film unique adventures, listen to music that came out 50 years ago, blog on, and tick off many CA readers with. So, as education requirements increase, so does the production of the students who learn, diligence, pays off.

Agreed. It was by the lunchroom, across the sidewalk from the luch/picnic tables that were also the designated "smoking" area. With the lunchroom being non-airconditioned, that putrid smell rolled right into the cafeteria.

Hey Dr, how many times you going to tell everybody you went to school with Graves? You two have a thing going on back then, or something?

If you thought the lunches at CCHS were good DR, I would hate to know what you were being fed at home :-)

G, do you remember the skunk scent incident in the cafeteria? When school was let out at 1:00 because someone...ahhhmm... spilled skunk cover scent in a locker, after spilling it in the lunchroom.
