Moore says he’s not running

No new candidates have qualified to run for local offices, but one official has decided not to run.

Superintendent of Education Keith Moore said he will not seek re-election.

“I’ve been in it for 27 1/2 years, and I’m just looking for something else to get into,” Moore said.

So, unless someone else qualifies before the April 2 deadline, the superintendent’s race will come down to Dave Hayden, Larry Raines, Tommy Glasscock and Jason Griffin. Griffin is the only Democratic candidate; the rest are Republicans.

Republican candidates for Chilton County Sheriff include incumbent Kevin Davis, former sheriff Billy Wayne Fulmer, Ronnie Gilbert and John Shearon.

Terry Wilson has qualified to run as a Democrat.

Chilton County coroner candidates are Paul Brooks and incumbent Randy Yeargan—both Republicans.
