Tickets are $7 apiece and may be pre-ordered from cast members. Tickets will go on sale in the school office Jan. 30.

Nearly 140 students will perform a variety of numbers ranging from Patsy Cline’s “Always” to Simon and Garfunkel’s “Bridge Over Troubled Water” to more modern hits like Sheryl Crowe’s “The First Cut is the Deepest.” In all, there are 26 numbers overlapping several genres.

The school concert fundraiser enters its 18th year this year under coordinators Ricki and Sheri McKee.

“I think it’s going to be good. We have a lot of young voices,” Ricki McKee said during practice Wednesday afternoon.

Six former students have returned to help choreograph dance moves for the show’s numbers. Karen Mitchell is in charge of choreography each year and is one of many who work behind the scenes to make “Blast” a success.

Sheri McKee said she is especially looking forward to the performance of “Always,” which was handpicked by her for the show because it is a personal favorite.

“The young kids have stepped up just like they always do,” she said. “We’re always amazed.”

For more information about “Blast,” call the school at 280-2710.

A great event! Other schools should follow suit. This is a nice local entertainment event not to mention a great fundraiser for the school. It exposes the students to more than just sports related activities and provides entertainment right here at home in Chilton County. I wish they would add other talents like musical instruments, comedians, etc. Another suggestion is that sometimes the choreography seems to become repetitious from song to song or from year to year and I wish they would incoroporate some more different dance moves. I like the ones with scenes that sort of act out in the background! Put a particularly great number at the beginning of the show and one at the end! Looking forward to this event. Overall it is usually GREAT!

Last time I went to this event I noticed the young girls were showing way too much skin.

Being in "Blast" was my favorite part of high school. I can't wait to come home this year to see my younger sister perform. The McKee's deserve many thanks for everything that they do for CCHS!

Enjoy the blast, just think former students do not need to perform. It's not their time to shine...
