I'm glad they caught him and hope they KEEP him. I can't believe he was on Co Rd 7. He is too DUMB to run.

Yes I'm unlocking my door and letting in the sunshine. I am glad that nothing bad happened to him or anyone else this could have turned out very different.

It would be very interesting to know how long this guy has been at this location and why these individuals would choose to assist him in his endeavor to not only evade the authorities but plan his next crime. And what penalties these individuals must face in "aiding and abetting" a known fugitive of justice. Not only should this young man pay for his crimes but so should those who chose not to immediately expose his known where abouts to the authorities. After all as this guys past events speak for their self timing is everything and concealing such information could have resulted in a very tragic situation.

Larry,
Actually he was playing his safest card as a wanted fugitive. If i were him i could run 1,000 miles where i didnt know anyone and sure to get caught right away. or i could run down the street where i knew someone that would be willing to hide me out for a spell with food and shelter. Besides it takes money to stay on the run and i dont think you could live very comfortable off gas station cash registers. Now if you could run out the door with the drop safe or the ATM you might do a little better for a while.

Travlr..very good point! Will the people 'hiding' him out be charged? I was told that Jay Knight, the other teen that was arrested with him on the last robbery was out on bond also?? Maybe his release was a 'paperwork mixup' also.

Did anyone find out if it was true what was said earlier on the other storyline. That he robbed the exxon station@208 exit last night?

Now they just need to keep him locked up!

Posted by travlr423 (anonymous) on September 25, 2009 at 12:03 p.m. (Suggest removal)

rolltide,
I dont think you have to worry about that. His next "DUE PROCESS" will probably be a long time processing.

Yep Steve...the family and friends should ALWAYS be the ones you look at first and most closely. Now to start cleaning up those who think they are so smart having illegal gambling machines in back rooms...

Sure has been a lot of stuff went on at that trailer park in the past few months / years. It's one thing to be low income but another thing to just plain be a lazy thug. When I was his age I didn't have money either but I worked every little odd job I could to make money, never even thought of robbery, stealing or anything like that. PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY!!!!!

It is good new that he has been caught AGAIN! Now if they can keep him there and he does make it to trial.

If another MISTAKE happens BEFORE he goes to trial, the elected officials should be voted out for good.

Well Phil,
if you know where that is taking place you need to contact the state officials. dont expect to get that taken care of by the locals. In fact the comment i placed here about illegal machines located at the Jemison exit area was deleted as the CA emailed me and said that was a liable comment. And while the County, City of Thorsby and City of Jemison frequently hang out at this very location they refused to enforce the law that says these machines are illegal to have. But someone on the state level came in to this business last week and not only are the machines gone they were not even properly licensed to sell tobacco products. And my question is why did the state have to come in and do what the locals should have done. I wonder if any of these officers were receiving free food or coffee or drinks from this business. And ethically if they were wouldn't that be considered as accepting a bribe to look the other way. That could cost several jobs at the local level not to mention the blackeye for these departments. But then if they should happen to read this they will also avoid responding to it im sure. and hope it just goes away.

I would like to know why the CA has not made any coverage about the auto accident they were involved in at the Jemison exit a few weeks back. as myself and others have already commented an interest in this news worthy information. It was a pretty serious accident and they have made no effort to mention what caused this accident or how the parties involved are doing. I know there appeared to be serious injuries involved. Are these people OK or were there any fatalities. Please inform your readers as to the outcome of this incident.

Posted by travlr423 (anonymous) on September 25, 2009 at 1:05 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Well Graves,
You should and probably do already know if there are things illegal going on at this park there is a law that exist to shut it down. All it takes is a petition with i think 5 signatures attesting from the community that it is a nuisance for drugs and illegal dealings and the authorities are required to take action to condemn it and its existence.

If that is the case about the trailor parks...why are so many trailor parks still 'open' on Clanton? Not all trailor parks are bad, by any means, but they just seem to draw the 'wrong' crowd. I know of homes (doublewides) that have constant drug activity and other illegal activity...but nothing is done about them!!!

Well, I guess we can all just wait and wonder how long it will be before he's out again holding up stores. Oh, never mind, I'm sure they got the "communication" problems straightened out. Too bad this didn't happen closer to election time, I'm sure that most folks will have forgotten all about it by then. Not ALL will, though.

I wont forget either, Im going to run for sheriff and hide around every corner and wait for the opportunity to arrest every crooked elected official in the county and their children who think they are above the law. especially those tied to the judicial system and the law enforcement offices.

Well, well, well, definitely no pun intended. It is what it is! I am so sorry for all that has happened with this young man and absolutely, he needs help (from society, saints, counselors, etc). And furthermore, law enforcement did what they do, as expected, it is what it is. With that being said, and let me take my time, because I hate to go here. . . Now, if it-was-a-young or older-man-or-woman-of-color, for those of you too young or don't know what 'of color' means (i.e., black, etc); and, if-it-were-people-of-color-harboring-fugitive-and/or-stolen-goods, what-do-you-think-the-initial-outcome-would-have-been? . . . Glad you asked! . . . And, you guessed it, LOCK-him/her-up-from ‘day one’ along with the people who hid the suspect—“just one more of 'them' off the streets”—NO-QUESTIONS ASKED! Your ‘back and forth’ rhetoric is absolutely what is expected in a small town with nothing else to do, so don’t all of you attack this opinion at one time. Again, it is what it is. Instead it’s only fair to let ‘everyone’ have their say, as you all have. It appears that some of you are so angry, bitter and judgmental, even at mere words. Maybe law enforcement and city officials will learn from this incident and hopefully not let a situation like this happen again. At the same time, who knows, it may come a time, if not sooner than later, when each one begins to judge e-v-e-r-y-o-n-e equally. It’s sad but true in this case, (and I am certainly not preaching), the lack of the presence of God and positive family support and guidance in our lives, the affect and distress of the economy, the fast pace of everything going on around us, and so much more, has everyone bitter, angry, hard up, on edge, scared, quick to judge and criticize one another. Now this is certainly ‘not breaking news’, it-is-a-fact you may not want to hear--'Prayer' is what’s necessary, for 1) that young man, 2) our society and families 3) the law enforcement, 4) city officials, 5) our economy, and lastly, 6) especially for one another. Now, can I get an 'Amen' or just more negativity? Be blessed, move right along, and keep living, prayerfully.

Passinthru: I'd be happy to comment on your opinion for you if only I could figure out what your position is. Your words didn't convey your opinion very well. If it is your opinion that people here are wanting this piece of scum to be treated as if he were in Sunday School because he's white, then you are mistaken. The people here who have a brain are upset that this scum was ever erroneously released in the first place after he was arrested while out on bond. Just a helpful note to you: race baiting isn't working anymore, at least with people with a brain and a spine. It has been wrongly used for so long now that it no longer has any bite, it's only result is laughter. It's the same old "Chicken Little -the sky is falling" crap. The sky hasn't fallen yet after decades of the dire warning that it is going to.

November and Ricky,
You both are right, in your opinions, and I definitely see that you are upset, I would be too w/this problematic case of mix-ups and an avid crime spree criminal on the run. And I agree, he should have been off the streets (sooner than just recently). However, I am not looking for a debate or an argument. Furthermore, I am not demanding a position of any kind in this case. First, I addressed what I believed would have happened if it were a "young or older man or woman of color", based on past history. Again, I am just stressing my opinion. And the latter, as stated in my opinion, I simply addressed an issue regarding all of mankind, that we have basically gotten away from what keeps one balanced in the first place--an everyday relationship with God, which precludes all matters of evil. That is one thing that is obvious here, the root of his (Wells’) evil--'money’--the root to all evil'. That is what his whole motive was, to get money, or the lack of it! Like I said, (his) lack of family support and guidance, the (present) affects of the economy, etc., has a lot of people (both black and white, etc.) hard up for mo' money, mo' money, mo’ money and the need for extra cash to buy 'whatever' for a means to 'some' end. In his (Wells’) case, it basically led him to a premeditated mindset that most criminal minded people have, to act upon his motives (to get more money) which went to 'no limits' for whatever he needed it for, drugs, etc, etc. Also, I know race baiting isn't working any longer. But my main point is you didn’t use to see this stuff (based on the article re: Mr. Wells) happening as frequently, broadcasted so openly, and documented so heavily in Clanton, AL (about whites), only in large metropolitan areas. But now that you are seeing it, the reveal of all crimes, large and small, by all races in full exposure, it’s evident that a higher percentage of crime is filtrating into smaller cities, like Clanton, AL. Now, my original point was and still is, basically you see more white (young and older males and/or sometimes females) doing these kinds of acts than ever before which result in front page, breaking news, in Clanton, AL. Where, consequently, the past reveals, it was always the people of color (i.e., young or old black men or women) were the primary focus and who made the news regardless of the crimes, big or small, in full exposure. And you know one reason why? Glad you asked! Because they (people of color) have always faced oppression, suppression, depression and lack of expression. So lastly, my friend(s), this is the one reason I reference the equal treatment b/c we ‘now’ see equal exposure across the board revealing the acts of all crimes by all races.

It is amazing how both of you, November and Rickey, can ‘decipher’ (i.e., decode, make sense of, interpret, translate . . .), vs. ‘cipher’ (code, symbols. . .) my opinion enough to imply that I am prejudice (we will get to that later), but you continue to state that you find it difficult to know what I am saying. Gosh, that is a typical response and definitely reflects the exact same thing I am saying. Two things, either you are not old enough to related to what I am saying; or, it is easy to just ignore what I am saying—though change occurs, some things remain the same. WHAT IS S-I-M-P-L-Y BEING SAID IS and IT IS IRONIC THAT THE SAME THING TOO MANY TIMES IN THE PAST, FOR THE POINT OF REFERENCE, HAS BEEN ACTUALLY IGNORED ALSO: The way people of color or blacks, to make it politically correct for you, have been unequally treated when they (blacks) would have been treated differently when it came to a case like this. For instance, if they (blacks) committed the crime or not, they (blacks) made front page or breaking news regardless more often than whites, they (blacks) were locked up and jailed more often than whites, they (blacks) were accused of some things they did not do more often than whites, and again, and lastly to make light of my whole point, if they (blacks) had done what this young man did and anyone connected to him, here is what I am saying again: HE/SHE WOULD HAVE RECEIVED AN INITIAL LOCK-UP, NO BOND, NO LETTING THEM OUT UNTIL COURT DATE, AND possibly a DISCUSSION OF THE KEY BEING THROWN AWAY in a case like this! Does that spell it out clearer? I am not saying this young man is a saint; he was finally caught after all that time, as he should have been. I feel we are getting no where with this exchange of opinions. And that’s perfectly fine with me. Maybe it is because I am not talking your language. Finally, the issue here is not to argue who I am, I am not on trial and neither will I argue the state of my character. That I will certainly not do because I know who I am. But I do know that I am definitely not a prejudice person, and there are many, whites, blacks, etc., who can unquestionably attest to that in Clanton, AL, and other surrounding areas and states. I am ‘quite’ certain, not ‘quiet’ as you implied, to be heard just like anyone else to express an (my) opinion. I apologize if I offended you by stating that you were upset. But, frankly I reflected upon the issue at hand, the safety and emotions of citizens of Clanton and surrounding areas, and like one of you stated, “The people here who have a brain are upset that this scum was ever erroneously released in the first place after he was arrested while out on bond.” So, ‘bottom line.com’ last I checked, the matters I am referencing speak for themselves, please go ‘check’ that out, if you’d like. As always, be blessed, move right along, and keep living, prayerfully.
