City approves sewer line
Published Tuesday, September 8, 2009
The Jemison City Council on Monday night approved the installation of a sewer line along County Road 42 East.
Jemison Mayor Eddie Reed said the upgrade will serve several businesses and one residence in the area. The installation is currently underway.
In other business, the council scheduled a public hearing for Monday, Sept. 21 at Jemison City Hall regarding a proposed zoning ordinance. The new ordinance, if approved, will update and replace the existing ordinance.
Maps outlining the proposed changes are available for public viewing at city hall. Smaller versions of these maps are available at the front table. Residents are welcome to address the council during the hearing, which will be held in a regular council meeting set to begin at 6 p.m. on the aforementioned date.
During Monday night’s meeting, the council also:
• approved debts deemed uncollectible in the amount of $36,000 in water
• approved the hiring of Hull and Russell for the city of Jemison’s annual audit in the amount of $19,050.
The Jemison City Council meets on the first and third Mondays of each month at 6 p.m. in the council quarters of Jemison City Hall. The public will be notified of any meeting date or time changes.
