Treats given to Humane Society

The animals at the Chilton County Humane Society will have plenty of treats this Halloween thanks to a donation from the county’s YMCA.

Admission to the YMCA’s Halloween festival last week was a donation of cat or dog food. YMCA Director Rachel McKinnon presented the supplies to Humane Society Director Joe Murphy on Wednesday. This is the second year the YMCA has donated the food.
“We are extremely grateful,” said Murphy. “It’s very nice when the community steps up and helps. This goes to Chilton County’s animals.”
McKinnon said the YMCA wanted to help another non-profit.
“We just know how the humane society struggles trying to provide for and feed all the animals. We’re a non-profit and enjoy helping another non-profit,” said McKinnon.
Murphy said the humane society still needs all the help it can get.
“Anything people can do is appreciated,” Murphy said.
The humane society will be open for trick or treating Saturday, Oct. 31 and will be adopting pets from 4-9 p.m. Adoption fees for the night are lower: dogs $80 and cats $60.
The Humane Society asks that no pets be dropped off during the event.

The adoption rates for pets have went up big time over the years.. i suspect this is what causes people to hesitate to adopt.. I adopted my dog 4 years ago when i lived in Montgomery and it was only 45 dollars.. 80 bucks is steep.. bring the price down and the adoptions will go up i would think..

The price includes spay or neuter, and they take them to have it done. It's really a good deal since that is included.
