Some offices, services to close Thursday and Friday

Published Tuesday, November 24, 2009

Some local services will not be available Thursday and Friday due to observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

City offices in Clanton, Jemison, Thorsby and Maplesville will be closed both days, as will county offices in the Chilton County Courthouse.

Clanton will pick up garbage Thursday and Friday mornings. Residents are asked to place their carts near the curb by 6 a.m. both days, or by the nights before, and leave them out until garbage is collected.

Jemison will pick up Thursday’s garbage on Wednesday, Nov. 25 and Friday’s garbage on Monday, Nov. 30.

Maplesville’s garbage, which typically runs three days per week, will not be collected Friday.

Thorsby residential garbage pickup should not be affected by the holiday. The town will not collect garbage for businesses on Thursday or Friday, however.

The postal service will not deliver mail on Thursday in observance of Thanksgiving Day. In many locations, express mail may be delivered for an additional surcharge.

Also closing for business Thursday are Peoples Southern Bank, Peachtree Bank and Regions Bank. All three banks will resume normal business hours on Friday.
