Just remember why you have the day off. People didn't fight overseas and here at home so once a year people could slep late, go shopping, etc......

Chilco, no forgetting. I served for 13 years. Albeit, my enlistment was in the National Guard. We all know how that role CHANGED in 1990.
I AM a fortunate one. I thank every single military personnel I come in contact with. Been there, and know the sacrifices they endure. While our enemies have changed drastically from the "cold war" days of waiting for "the balloon to go up", todays soldier faces a multi-faceted threat that we knew was there, but had no power to engage us on our terms. Today's soldiers are forced to engage them on their soil and in many cases, in the political realm forced on America over the last 19 years, due to an American hierarchy that is so close to the Royalty families of Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Syria, and the Contractor conglomerate of Bin Laden Contractors, I really do appreciate the tough spot they are in. They are chasing the son of the man who WAS/IS business partners with Haliburton. It's a shame. But I salute every single man and woman taking the oath and serving in good faith! Take a minute Wednesday to THINK, (at least), of our soldiers, seamen, airmen, and marines who have and are serving. Whether it was peace time, war, or "conflicts", (HIC, MIC, and LIC), all knew the possibilities. Regardless of your party affiliation, you have the freedoms due to those willing to stand at the gate, face the wolf, and terminate it, if ordered to!

I can start thanking people without even leaving our property. My stepfather is retired from the Army and my husband served 11 years in the Air Force.
Also, my late father retired from the Air Force and my grandfather on my mother's side fought in World War II. I am grateful to all who have served and all who are now serving.

I thank them too...and back it up with domnations to the Veterans Administration. I hope my money helps them...I worry a bit that it just goes in the system and never really helps anyone. But I still give in the name of my father who fought in Germany WWII and my Mother who was a "Rosey the riviter" out in California where she was going to school.
How their lives were changed is indescribable, and very sad. In memory of all those who fight and contribute in any way to our freedom, I give thanks.
