Two in jail after shooting incident
Published Wednesday, November 4, 2009
A domestic dispute in Jemison on Tuesday resulted in one person being taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the neck, Chilton County Sheriff Kevin Davis said.
Clyde Rutherford, 61, has been released from the hospital after being shot by Teresa Renee Rutherford, 45, in the 1300 Block of County Road 48.
Both are in custody.
Clyde Rutherford was charged with domestic violence, menacing and reckless endangerment. Teresa Rutherford was charged with assault and domestic violence.
Davis said both parties had handguns during the altercation and were fortunate that more serious injuries didn't occur.
"Anytime someone tries to use weapons, firearms, whatever to solve their problems, the outcome is not good," Davis said.
The investigation by the Sheriff's Department is ongoing.
Bond has yet to be set.

If their "problem" is that someone is trying to kill them, then I'd say that the use of a firearm could very well lead to a very GOOD outcome, at least if they have the to guts to protect themselves. If someone points a gun at you, you better be prepared to protect yourself, not negotiate. I suppose that at the funeral folks could say " he/she wasn't good at negotiation, but dang, ain't they pretty in their casket!"
