Man charged with illegally selling timber

A Clanton man has been arrested and charged with illegally selling timber.

Keith Baker, 37, faces 13 counts of selling timber without permission and 12 counts of giving false information when selling timber.

He was arrested Oct. 16 and is scheduled to be tried Nov. 16 in Chilton County District Court.

The alleged thefts occured between July 17 and Oct. 1, 2009, from timber harvested in Autauga, Shelby and Macon counties. If convicted, Baker faces up to a $1,000 fine and up to 12 months in jail for each count.

The Alabama Forestry Commission and Chilton County Sheriff’s Office worked together on the case.
