Reeves returning to Advertiser, Maze to Alex City

Published Thursday, March 26, 2009

Tim Reeves has been named general manager and editor of The Clanton Advertiser and www.clantonadvertiser.com.

Reeves served as managing editor of the Clanton Advertiser from 2001 until 2003. He comes to The Advertiser from the Alexander City Outlook, where he has served as editor and publisher since 2003.

In addition to The Clanton Advertiser and The Outlook, the 34-year-old has managed and worked in newsrooms at Gulf Coast Newspapers, The Selma Times Journal and The Dothan Eagle. He also served as editor of four newspapers in the Dallas metro area. Reeves has won many awards for his writing and editing.

“Tim is a gifted journalist who brings experience and knowledge of community journalism to The Advertiser and www.clantonadvertiser.com,” Advertiser publisher Mike Kelley said. “Tim knows the Chilton County area and its people and will be an asset to our community and to The Clanton Advertiser.”

Tim and his wife, Nikki, plan to move to Chilton County soon. Nikki is also an accomplished journalist who has joined the staff at The Shelby County Reporter in Columbiana.

The Advertiser’s managing editor, Brent Maze, is leaving to become managing editor of the Alexander City Outlook, where he will manage a staff of reporters who produce the daily Outlook, www.alexcityoutlook.com, the weekly Dadeville Record and the award-winning Lake Magazine, a monthly magazine about life around the Lake Martin area in Tallapoosa County.

“Brent has produced a timely, local news report of events and people of Chilton County through our newspaper and online editions daily for more than two years,” Kelley said. “He has done much to improve both products. I am proud of what he has accomplished here and that he has earned this opportunity to move up to the position with The Outlook.”

The Clanton Advertiser, The Alexander City Outlook, The Dadeville Record, the Selma Times Journal and The Shelby County Reporter are all managed by the Boone Newspapers organization of Tuscaloosa.

Brent, good luck. It's been fun. Keep your disguise, and keep it coming. Never mind that... Just keep doing what you do well.

Go with God, Brent. Keep reporting the news, and unlike some news? papers don't try to invent news.
