Thorsby's Fourth celebration to feature singing
Published Thursday, June 25, 2009
Thorsby will hold its Fourth of July celebration service Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Richard Wood Park, followed by fireworks.
"There will be singing, readings, prayer, the national anthem, Pledge of Allegiance," coordinator Melba Davis said.
Several locals will sing patriotic songs, and First Baptist Church pastor Von McQueen will deliver a brief message. A bagpiper will also play at the service.
The service will last approximately one hour and will be followed by a fireworks show.
There will be barbecue for sale at the park, with free water and cookies provided by the local churches.
A prayer table for service men and women will be set up, and those who have relatives in the military are encouraged to bring a photo with information to the town hall beforehand or bring it to the program Wednesday.
Those attending the service are asked to bring a lawn chair.
