Jemison resident killed in Moulton

Published Friday, June 12, 2009

Authorities with the Moulton Police Department are still investigating an accident Thursday afternoon that reportedly claimed the life of a Chilton County man.

In a report in the Florence Times Daily, authorities released information that the unidentified victim was killed when his truck rammed into the back of a tractor-trailer truck at the intersection of Alabama 33 and Alabama 157.

Moulton Police Chief Lyndon McWhorter was reported as saying the victim, a Jemison man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim’s name was not released Friday in order to allow adequate time for family notification.

McWhorter described the victim’s truck as a “cab-over box style truck,” according to the report.

“The victim ran into the back of the tractor-trailer truck, which was knocked forward and hit another car,” the chief was quoted as saying. “The driver of the tractor-trailer truck was slightly injured, but the driver of the car was not hurt at all.”

The three vehicles had been traveling southbound on Alabama 157, but the car and tractor-trailer were stopped at a traffic signal at the time of the incident, the report indicated.

I ran with Jason on the Fire Department. Anytime we needed him, he was there. Jason was a person that would keep all of us laughing. He would find the brightest ray of light, in the darkest of times.
Jason, it was an Honor to serve with you. May you look upon us and help protect us.
We will all miss you Brother.

I also would like to pass on condolences to his family. I did not know him personally but understood he was a heck of a guy. I will pray that the family and friends find peace in this time of loss.

This is a time for us all to remember that we are not promised tomorrrow and should live for the Lord as if this is our last day.

I often hear people say that someone who died has gone on to be an angel. However, I do not believe any person will become an angel. If I am wrong, where is it in the Bible?
