Young Miss Chilton County hopefuls dance to a Miley Cyrus tune Tuesday afternoon at the Pumpkin Patch.
The girls, ages 8-12, participated in a line dance, searched for a needle in a haystack and ate pizza.
Amy Williams, mother of current Young Miss Chilton County Candice Williams and coordinator of the party, said it gives the girls something fun to do during a week filled with practices.
She said she thought the theme of the party, “Party at the Farm,” was appropriate for what the pageant represents.
“The Miss Chilton County queens represent the agriculture in the county, so we thought it would be a fun thing to do,” she said.
Williams said the girls enjoy meeting new friends and seeing familiar faces.
“The majority of them compete in the pageants every year,” she said.
The Young Miss Chilton County pageant will be held Saturday at 6:30 p.m. at the Chilton County High School auditorium. Admission is $5.

yes, there are a LOT of beauty pageants and that is why SOME of the girls around here only focus on what they look like and not how they act!

Everytime I pick up the paper and look at it, its pictures of contestants in beauty pageants. There is a lot of money going into dresses/gowns. bathing suits, make-up, etc for these contestants.
