LQMA benefits students of all ages, needs

Published Monday, July 6, 2009

Whatever it is you need, Life Quest Martial Arts can provide it.

Leslee Deavers, for example, wanted discipline for her twin sons, Garret and Grant, and exercise for herself.

The boys had already started classes at LQMA, and Deavers was instructing an aerobics class at her church, Chestnut Creek Baptist.

“It got to be time consuming, being at both places,” Deavers said about her decision to give Tae Kwon Do a try. “I love it. It’s better than any aerobics I’ve ever done. I would encourage anyone to try it.”

Deavers’ story is the type LQMA founders John Episcopo and Tim McCullough hoped for.

“We named it [Life Quest] because we wanted to offer life skills,” Episcopo said.

The organization is benefiting many local people even though it has only been in existence since September 2008. McCullough estimates LQMA has gone from 17 or 18 students to 36 or 37 students. Students range in age from 5 to mid-50s.

“What you get out of it depends on the age group,” McCullough said. “It’s something for everyone.”

I personally know several people who take classes from Life Quest and they all say that Mr. Episcopo and Mr. McCullough are class act guys and phenomenal instructors. And judging by the trophies in their window they must be doing something right.
