NIE Student of the Week
Jacqueline Todd of Clanton Middle School
Published Thursday, January 15, 2009
Jacqueline Todd has just finished the busiest part of her year. During football and basketball season, Todd is a dancer on the Clanton Middle School Dance Team. She said she has enjoyed dancing since she was 5 years old, and being on the dance team is one of her favorite things about school.
Her next favorite thing is math class followed by teacher’s aid.
“I have really enjoyed being a teacher’s aid this year. I have gotten to help out the teacher as well as help out the students that have questions in class,” she said.
Todd is part of FCCLA, Beta Club and Science Olympiad, so she is constantly doing something with the school and her fellow classmates. When she does get to spend time with her family she hangs out with her sister, Audreana; brother, Nicolas; mother, Laportia; great aunt, Peggy Mixon; cousin, Dornecia Davidson; and her godfather and godmother, Audrey and Raymond Davidson Sr.
This year, Todd was recommended to take place in the National Young Leaders Conference.
Todd loves to shop and go to movies with her friends. In her alone time she likes to write.
“I like to write poems, songs and short stories, but poems are my favorite,” she said.
When she graduates, she wants to attend Auburn University or Alabama State and pursue a master’s in criminology. Then, she wants to intern as a paralegal until she gets her degree and becomes a lawyer or criminologist.
