MONTGOMERY — Alabamians who have received unemployment compensation benefits during the past year can now visit the Web site of the state Department of Industrial Relations to get the documentation needed for filing federal income tax returns.

State Industrial Relations Director Tom Surtees said the Web site (http://www.dir.alabama.gov) should provide more convenient access and make filing a tax return a little easier.

The tax forms are password protected and must be accessed with a Social Security number. Surtees said those without Internet access will have their forms mailed to them by Jan. 31.
