What is this?
Do equal ‘remembering’
Published Tuesday, January 6, 2009
Dear Editor,
I would be careful in editorializing about “remembering” Alabama's loss in the Sugar Bowl without “remembering” that your Tigers were not even in a bowl this year, received that 36-0 pounding on Thanksgiving weekend and were 5-7 in ‘08.
It might be OK to editorialize one way politically, but as you should know when it comes to the rivalry you better do equal “remembering” as not to alienate your Tide subscribers. We all should heed what my pastor, Larry Anderson, preached about Sunday and that is watch our tongues.
– Al Headley, Clanton

Well, Mr. Headley ... looks like Mr. Dawkins heeded your warning. He wrote a little turn-about in the sports section "scolding" Tiger fans about a little harassment concerning the Sugar Bowl game.

Whoa. There you go. I try to understand the attitudes of some disgruntled Tidy Bowl fans and some people want to know why I am an Auburn fan, of all things. The comment above is a perfect example of why. Bamer loses only 2 games the whole season and holds a #1 ranking for at least part of the season. Their coach gets "coach of the year" twice, and they beat Auburn bigtime.
But no, that's not good enough. Someone has to pout about Bamer not getting "equal" representation and then threatens The Clanton Advertiser with diminishing Tide fan subscribers. Stephen, whatever loses you incur due to declining Tide fan readers, us Auburn fans will try yo make up. I am sure it won't be many.

I don't think eagle1 understood exactly what Mr. Headley was trying to say. We "ALABAMA" fans have listened to all of the TUBBY lovers talk down to us, make fun of our new coach (which I think was only because they were scared, and rightfully so), and simply laugh in our faces for so long that we are sick of it. Mr. Headley was simply stating facts, in a very classy way if I may add. Some Auburn fans could stand to learn a lesson or two about class. If Auburn can laugh at Alabama about being beat so bad by Utah, then what does that say about Auburn being stomped, no shut down, by Alabama? Auburn has had the glory for so long, and now that the tables have finally turned, they just can't take it. Mr. Headley was right, if anything needs to be remembered this year about Alabama/Auburn football, it is that ALABAMA IS BACK and will only get better. ROLL TIDE!!!!!!!!!!

No Machelle, it's you that doesn't get it. Your post is a perfect example of what I am talking about. Ya'll can't take a little heat.

I think your first post is a perfect example of what YOU are talking about. You make fun of Alabama throughout the entire post, so what is there for me to get? A professional editor makes fun of a team that has done an outstanding job this year, and no one is supposed to call him on it because of what?

eagle1, You instigate all of this. I only attack you when you provoke me. Look at your post above, Using terms like "Bamer'' and "Tidy bowl fans" will only draw more heat from Alabama fans. It's evident that you are not smart enough to figure this out.
You have even suggested in another letter to the editor that kw,vampire, and myself be banned from posting because we are nasty. Just remember, everyone does not share your same views, and will call you out on some of the garbage you post on here.
Stop taking this stuff so personal. We all know you are an Auburn fan, and we all respect that. Don't go crying to the Advertiser everytime someone hurts your feelings.
Good Day!

Thank you bama1870. That is exactly what I was saying in my last post. eagle1 wants to say that my post was what he was talking about, but mine was just a response to his garbage.

Hey, I am just messin' with ya'll. Chill out. The "nasty" thing was not meant to be taken seriously, kw knows that. He didn't bite my head off; yet, anyways.
