Rebels break through
Published Tuesday, August 25, 2009
THORSBY The hard work finally paid off.
The Thorsby volleyball team on Tuesday won its first match against a county foe in coach Ginger Williams’ four-year tenure when it downed Chilton County High, 24-26, 25-23, 15-4.

Best effort: Chilton County High’s Kadie Coker receives a serve Tuesday while teammate Rachel Johnston looks on.
Call it: Thorsby’s Stephanie Moore, left, and Michelle Hendrix go after a ball on Tuesday against Chilton County High.
Both the Rebels (3-1) and the Tigers (0-4) lost in straight games to Montevallo earlier in the tri-match.
“We didn’t miss serves; that makes a difference,” Thorsby coach Ginger Williams said about the decisive Game 3 against CCHS. “They were still upset about losing to Montevallo, which is good, but they were definitely excited about beating Clanton.”
