Marbury couple to be on CMT

Published Saturday, October 4, 2008

A Marbury couple will exchange vows on CMT’s “My Big Redneck Wedding” tonight at 8 p.m.

Bo Grantham and Anna Arroyo will be showing their “redneck pride” with a red, white and blue wedding, according to the show’s Web site.

The two have been together for six years after they met in middle school. Granthman is a forklift operator.

“The craziest things that happen in this town are at my house,” he said on the Web site.

Not that it's a lot better but if they're from Marbury why say they're from Verbena on the show? Man, I'm happy I moved away from the area if that's what it's becoming! That guy looked like the same dude who shot me a bird after I waved while passing him on the road when I was in town one time!

Yeah, i noticed that too. From what i saw, they were right on the border between Marbury and Verbena. And trust me, thats not NEAR what it's become. Just know CMT has to make us look as trashy and rednecky as they can. (ratings, anyone?)

Sadly I knew some people also. It hurts me to see what my hometown is becoming. It's not the same. However, there are still some really good folks that live there.

Oh my gosh, y'all liten-up. It is what it is. I have lived in 2 big cities in the south and even smaller towns than Clanton, and non have fit the Red-neck stero type as we do here. Their are some that like to act all that , but you know they aren't.

I thought it was shameful, embarrassing, and vulgar. I am as country as it gets and this show made me sick. I'd never disgrace myself, my family, or my community as they did on national TV. The language, the actions, and the things implied was a disgrace. They could have done the mud boggin. That would have been fine. They could have done the rebel flag stuff, but Anna was pretty vulgar and pushed it to far. As well as others on the show. I felt sorry for the donkey and chicken.

The amazing thing to me is that it seems like it's gotten worse over the years. I don't really have a good explanation for that. Maybe it's education gone to hades or soemthing. I don't know.
