The Chilton Civic Chorale and Pops and the Central Alabama Performing Arts are coming together for the first time to present a Christmas program to celebrate the holiday season.
Carols 2008: Sweet Sixteen, to be held Dec. 5 and 6 at the Helen E. Parrish Activity Center of Clanton First United Methodist Church\. Performances will begin at 7 p.m. both evenings.
The program will include both sacred and traditional Christmas songs sung by the combined voices of the Chilton Civic Chorale and the Central Alabama Performing Arts, the CAPA Kids, and will feature instrumental music by the Chilton Pops and Swing Station, a jazz combo that evolved from the Chorale and Pops.
Guest artists will include the Sullivan Sisters on Friday evening and Loose Change on Saturday night. The Sullivan Sisters (Mary Morris of Clanton and Julia Carr and Norma Jones of Millbrook) are veterans of the performing arts, bringing music and comedy to the stage since the 1960s. Loose Change, a well-known barbershop quartet, has entertained audiences in Chilton County for several years.
Tickets for Carols 2008: Sweet Sixteen are $10 and may be purchased at Whistle Stop Coffee & News, Forrest Veterinary Clinic and O. P. Klinner Furniture, all in Clanton, or from any member of the Chilton Civic Chorale & Pops or Central Alabama Performing Arts.
