Care Net Center banquet to feature live ultrasound

Published Friday, November 7, 2008

Care Net Pregnancy Resource Center will present a live ultrasound at its annual fundraising banquet Thursday night.

The guest speakers of this year’s banquet, Dan and Connie Ambrecht of Las Vegas, founders of Sonography Now, will perform the ultrasound in front of a local audience.

The banquet is set for Thursday night from 7-9 in the gymnasium of Clanton First Baptist’s Christian Life Center (seating begins at 6:30). It includes dinner and is open to everyone, but those who wish to attend must RSVP by calling 755-6767 and leaving a message.

The live ultrasound is being done in conjunction with Care Net’s plans to become a medical center in Chilton County.

“This means we will be able to offer sonograms for women with unplanned pregnancies to confirm that their pregnancy is a viable pregnancy,” Care Net director Lynda Beebe said. “The reason this is important is because we want to make sure these women are not as risk for complications, and that they have all the knowledge they need to have. It’s just really to protect the woman before she makes a decision.”

The Chilton County branch of Care Net hopes to eventually offer STI (sexually transmitted infections) testing for youth and general people in the community who are sexually active.

These goals will require extended hours and personnel, including a medical director to oversee the center, a nurse manager and two trained nurses to perform ultrasounds.

Even without this equipment and personnel, Care Net has served more than 500 clients since opening in September 2006. Currently, the non-profit agency is open Thursdays and Fridays from 9-5.

“We are hoping to extend our hours and even become full time,” Beebe said.

The fundraising banquet helps Care Net continue their work in the community each year. The organization is funded by businesses, churches, clubs and individuals who value the protection of women and their unborn children.

“What we offer is compassion, options and resources to help them, and our services are free,” Beebe noted.

Those interested in learning more about the ministry or supporting Care Net are encouraged to visit the Web site, www.prcpartnerschilton.org or call 755-6767.

About Dan and Connie Ambrecht

The founders of Sonography Now, Dan and Connie Ambrecht, currently reside in Las Vegas where their most recent work has included many volunteer hours at First Choice Pregnancy Services, one of the busiest centers in the nation.

A Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer for more than 25 years, Connie has worked in a variety of settings from hospitals and offices to mobile medical imaging and clinical instruction. Through her work she has grown in her understanding of the impact of abortion, as well as the need to reach women before they find themselves in a crisis pregnancy. Dan brings his business and corporate experiences, including Executive Directorship of a PHMC, to the company along with an understanding of how abortion affects men. Their experience affords them a more thorough comprehension of the specific training needs of a Pregnancy Help Medical Clinic.
