Redesigned Web site launches today
Published Saturday, July 12, 2008
Above is a sample screen shot of what the new Clanton Advertiser web site looks like. A companion site called Spotted was also launched.
The Clanton Advertiser’s Web site has a new look today.
The new http://www.clantonadvertiser.com site was launched this morning with numerous new features available to our online readers.
In addition to keeping up with the latest news across Chilton County, readers will be able to comment on stories posted to the site. All anyone has to do is to become a registered user at www.clantonadvertiser.com. There is no fee to signup, and it will also allow you to share your thoughts on any story, photo, poll, column, etc.
By becoming a user, you will also be able to share memories of people who are listed in our obituaries section. Here, you will be able to share with the world how that person impacted your life.
As a user, you will also be automatically be registered for our companion photo site Spotted, which is available at spotted.clantonadvertiser.com. Here you will be able to share photos with other readers around the world. The Clanton Advertiser will also be posting photos from any event we cover during the year.
From the Peach Festival to high school sports, photo galleries will be available of the photos we take during the course of covering an event. This will include the photos the Advertiser staff puts in the paper plus additional photos that will not fit in our regular edition.
Like our main site, you will also be able to post comments to photos, and you will be able to network with other users.
“I think all our readers will enjoy our new Web site,” said Stephen Dawkins, sports editor and web editor for The Clanton Advertiser. “The sites will allow us to keep them informed in a way we never have before.”

I would be willing to pay the subsciption price if I could read the entire paper online. My mailbox is across the road from a long driveway. Putting up an additional box for a paper version of the full paper is not practical for me, not to mention the idealism of paper reduction. I think a lot of readers would subscibe just to receive a PDF copy of the entire paper each day. Well, just an idea! Thanks for the great improvement one the website, just the same.

Brent
The new site looks great!! And very "clean".
I am encountering a few bugs and will copy them below. When clicking on the link to "subscribe to an e-newsletter or SMS edition", I get the following error (I've also seen this on an article):
Page not found (404)
Request Method: GET
Request URL: http://www2.clantonadvertiser.com/alerts...
You're seeing this error because you have DEBUG = True in your Django settings file. Change that to False, and Django will display a standard 404 page.
I'm also getting an error when I try to do an advanced search of the search, I won't copy the whole thing as it is very long. Contact me if you need the full error message:
error at /search/
Index file error
Request Method: GET
Request URL: http://www2.clantonadvertiser.com/search...
Exception Type: error
Exception Value: Index file error
Exception Location: /home/code/ellington/search/parts/search.py in __init__, line 40

I am very impressed with the new web site. It's well laid
out and very informative. The Spotted section is going to
be a very popular section. I must comment on kittycreek's
quote "not to mention the idealism of paper reduction" I
work for International Paper in Selma that makes paper.
The paper reduction she speaks of could put many people
out of work.

Very nice! I travel all over the world with my job and this new format will make it much easier to keep up with what is happening at home. I'm sure there will be some bugs to work out but I think this is going to be great. Good job!

i like the new website. You can be proud of all the hard work. I cannot view any of the pics on the Spotted section, but I am sure that will work itself out. I hope so. This is sure to be a popular place. Thanks!!
