Train hits pedestrian in west Mobile Co.

MOBILE — Mobile police say a 49-year-old man was struck and killed by a freight train in west Mobile.

The mishap occurred Monday, just before 3 p.m. on tracks near Schillinger Road.

Corporal Charles Bagsby, a police spokesman, said James Hill was pronounced dead at the scene.

He said Hill's death was being investigated as a suicide.
