Property tax due Wednesday Dec. 31
Published Saturday, December 27, 2008
The last minute is drawing near for Chilton County property owners who have not paid their taxes.
Property tax is due by Wednesday, but fortunately there are still ways to avoid waiting in a long line at the courthouse.
All you need is a debit card and access to the Internet. Just log on to www.chiltoncountyrevenue.com and pay online.
The other preferred way to pay your bill is by mail. All payments must be postmarked by Dec. 31. Any payments that bear a postmark later than that date will be considered late.
Late taxpayers will face a penalty of an additional $5 per parcel, and after that an additional 1 percent in monthly increments.
The Chilton County Tax Collector’s Office will be closed New Year’s Day and Jan. 2. County offices are open until 4 p.m. on regular business days.
For more information, call the Chilton County Tax Collector’s Office at 755-1249.

Hey, if I give ya'll (The Clanton Advertiser) a list of my bills and due dates, will you put them on this on-line edition so I will know when they need to be paid? If you're going to tell me when my property tax is due, you might as well help me with the rest of my debts. Speaking of which, maybe Obama will give me some kinda monetary "bailout" so it will give the economy a boost.

Some people need to be reminded to take their medicine that they take everyday, so why not remind people to pay their taxes, an activity that is only done once a year? What's the big deal? This is much better than having your name listed in the paper when the tax delinquencies are published.
