Passing the 5,000 mark

We have reached a milestone on our Web site yesterday. With getbizi’s comment, “That is, if they dont leave early for the NFL!!”, we have now had 5,000 comments posted on our Web site. That’s a pretty big number for us. (By the way, the comment was left on the story “‘Bama reclaims state with easy win over Auburn.”)

If you divide that by a few months we have been live on our new site, it averages out to be about 1,100 comments per month. Of the five comments, one user in particular has left 450 comments. That is 9 percent of all the comments on the site.

That means this user has posted a comment about 100 times a month. I won’t identify who this is, but I think most users know who I am talking about.

I have to admit that commenting has been one of the best features of our new Web site when it debuted back in July. Many people in the people are talking about what people are saying about our stories. There is good and bad with it, but overall, everything has worked out just fine.

I would like to give all of our regulars on the Web site a big “Thank you” for coming to www.clantonadvertiser.com each day. I might not agree with what you say, but I believe you have the right to be heard as long as you don’t use offensive language or say something that could be libelous.

And any of you that haven’t taken the opportunity to join the conversation, you can do so. Log on to our site. If you haven’t registered for a free account, you can still do it now. All you have to do is create a username and password and tell us some basic information about who you are. This information is kept confidential. If you want people to know who you are, then you have the option to let your name be seen on your comments.
