Engagement: Wheeler and Barge

Mr. and Mrs. Barry Wheeler of Whitewright, Texas; and Mr. and Mrs. Scott (Anna Marie) Warren of Waxahachie, Texas announce the engagement of their daughter, Callie DeNae Wheeler of Whitewright, Texas to Daniel Miles Barge of Fort Davis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Barge of Fort Davis, Texas.
Grandparents of the bride-to-be are Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Wheeler of Whitewright. Grandparents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Talmadge Holbrook of Clanton, Mr. M.W. Barge of Hapeville, Ga.; and the late Mrs. Betty Barge of Birmingham. The groom is the great-grandson of Mrs. Katrina Holbrook and the late Mr. Sam Holbrook of Attalla, Ala., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Homer Driskell of Gadsden, Ala.
The bride-elect is a 2007 graduate of Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, Texas with a bachelor’s degree in mass communication. She is employed by Wayland Baptist University in Lubbock, Texas.
The groom is a 2009 graduate of Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, Texas with a bachelor’s degree in mass communication. He is currently employed by Fort Davis State Bank in Fort Davis, Texas.
An outdoor wedding is planned for 7 p.m. Aug. 8, 2009 at the historic Heard-Craig House in McKinney, Texas.

Wedding: DeVaughn and Farmer

Tempie Johnette DeVaughn and Richard Keith Farmer were united in marriage Saturday, May 2, 2009 at 6:30 p.m. in the Venus Garden at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas, Nev. Eric Bates of Murfreesboro, Tenn. officiated the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Ocie DeVaughn of Clanton and Margaret DeVaughn of Houston, Texas. The groom is the son of Mickey Farmer of Fairview, Tenn. and Donna Johnson of Pleasant View, Tenn.
Maid of honor, Elizabeth Moore of Rome, Ga.; and matron of honor, Marissa Buchanan of Nashville attended the bride.
Best man, Adam Swinford; and groomsman, Brandon Stotts, both of Nashville, attended the groom.
The bride is a graduate of Chilton County High School and Auburn University. She is senior art director for Bill Hudson Agency, an advertising/public relations firm in Nashville. The groom is a graduate of Cheatham County Comprehensive High School and Middle Tennessee State University. He is a sales representative and estimator with Gerdau Ameristeel, a producer of concrete reinforcing steel in Nashville.
After a honeymoon in Aruba, the couple resides in Nashville.

Anniversary: Price

Mr. and Mrs. Ferrell Price celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at Orange Beach, Ala. with friends.

Engagement: Cagle and Doucet

Mr. Randy Cagle of Andalusia and Ms. Paige Dennis Cox of Clanton are pleased to announce the upcoming wedding of their daughter, Emily Cagle of Clanton, to Mr. Matt Doucet of Clanton, son of Ms. Janet Edwards of Jemison and Mr. Jerry Doucet of Clanton.
Judge Sibley Reynolds will officiate the ceremony, which will be held July 11 at 1 p.m. at Confederate Memorial Park in Verbena.
The bridal party includes: Hilary Cagle of Verbena, cousin of the bride; Caitlin Gardner of Clanton, friend of the bride; and Nicki Melton of Clanton, friend of the bride, will be the bride’s attendants.
Michael Doucet of Clanton, brother of the groom; Bryant Cagle of Clanton, brother of the bride; and John Bolton of Clanton, friend of the groom, will be the groomsmen.
Walter Hayden will play the piano and Paige Scruggs will sing in the ceremony.
All friends and family are invited to attend.
The bride attends Jefferson State Community College.
The groom is employed by Bailey Harris Construction.
The couple will reside in Verbena.

Engagement: Franklin and Jones

Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Franklin of Maplesville are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, JoAnna Marie, of Clanton, to Nicholas Patton Jones of Plantersville, son of Larry and Karen Jones of Plantersville.
Grandparents of the bride-to-be are the late J.T. and Elvie Franklin of Clanton; and Mrs. Ethal Moore and the late Mr. Jack Moore of Billingsley. Grandparents of the prospective groom are Mrs. Dot Harris and the late E.P. Jones of Plantersville; and the late Mr. and Mrs. Sonny Lovelady of Maplesville.
The bride-elect is a 1999 graduate of Isabella High School. She graduated with a master’s degree in business management from Faulkner University in 2004, and received a master’s degree in special education from Auburn University-Montgomery in 2009. She is employed by the Chilton County Board of Education.
The groom-to-be attended Maplesville High School and is employed by Wright’s Nursery.
The wedding is planned for July 3 at Hillcrest Baptist Church. All friends and family are invited to attend.

Engagement: Akin and Childress

Mr. and Mrs. Alan Akin of Pensacola, Fla. are happy to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Camille Suzanne Akin, to Austin Kyle Childress, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alan Childress of Clanton.
The bride elect is the granddaughter of William and Deanna McMinn of Clanton. She is a 2002 graduate of Chilton County High School and a 2005 graduate of Wallace Community College-Selma with a degree in cosmetology. She is currently employed at Sweet & Sassy Salon of Hoover.
The prospective groom is the grandson of Elvin and Juanita Mills of Clanton, Peggy Cox of Clanton, Dianne Childress of Thorsby, and Ben Childress of Gadsden. He is a 2004 graduate of Chilton County High School.
He is the lead singer and guitarist with the band Thalon.
The wedding is set for July 18, 2009 at New Life Community Church of Clanton. All friends and family are invited to attend.
