Editor’s note: Below is a compilation of the statistics and achievements for graduates of Chilton County area schools who now compete at the college level. If you know of an athlete who should be included in future installments of this list, email sports@clantonadvertiser.com.

BASEBALL

J.D. Minor (Chilton County 2014) batted 1-for-4 and scored one run at third base for the University of Montevallo (20-19) in a 10-9 loss at home to Armstrong State University (15-19) on April 2 in Montevallo. On April 3, the sophomore followed by finishing 1-for-5 in a 10-5 triumph at home against Armstrong State University. For the season, he has totaled 14 runs scored, eight RBIs, eight stolen bases, five doubles, one home run, one triple and a .210 batting average.

Chance Calloway (Chilton County 2012) delivered one strikeout and allowed one earned run in a 2 1/3-inning effort as starting pitcher for NAIA No. 5 Auburn University at Montgomery (30-9) in a 12-4 loss at Columbus State University (27-10) on March 30 in Columbus, Ga. For the season, the senior has tallied a 2-1 overall record complemented with 26 innings, 21 strikeouts and a 3.81 ERA through eight appearances and five starts.

Blake Teel (Chilton County 2014) allowed one earned run in a five-inning performance at starting pitcher for Marion Military Institute (26-9-1) in a 5-1 loss at Lawson State Community College (18-12) on April 1 in Birmingham. For the season, the sophomore has compiled a 1-3 overall record complemented with 27 1/3 innings, eight strikeouts and a 4.28 ERA through seven appearances and six starts.

James Ratliff (Chilton County 2014) allowed three earned runs in a one-inning effort as a relief pitcher for Marion Military Institute (26-9-1) in a 14-1 loss at home to Lawson State Community College (18-12) on April 3 in Marion. For the season, the sophomore has totaled one save, 6 1/3 innings, three strikeouts and an 8.53 ERA through six appearances and one start.

 MEN’S GOLF

Ivan Truss (Chilton County 2014) collected the No. 2 performance for Samford University at the Vanderbilt University Mason Rudolph Championships by tying for 42nd overall with a three-round score of 224 (70-79-75) as the Bulldogs cruised to 14th place among the field of 14 teams from April 2-3 in Franklin, Tenn.

Forrest Knight (Chilton County 2013) captured the No. 1 effort for the NCAA Division II No. 13 University of North Alabama men’s golf program at the University of West Alabama Argonaut Invitational by clinching sixth overall with a three-round score of 215 (70-69-76) as the Lions cruised to place sixth among the field of 15 teams from April 4-5 in Gulf Breeze, Fla.

SOFTBALL

Shelby Lopez (Jemison 2012) batted 1-for-3 and scored one run as catcher for the University of Montevallo (19-26) in a 5-1 loss at home to Armstrong State University (29-9) on April 3 in Montevallo. On April 5, the senior followed by finishing 1-for-4 and scoring one run in a 5-4 victory over Stillman College (14-18) in Montevallo. For the season, she has tallied 26 runs scored, 23 RBIs, 10 stolen bases, four home runs, four doubles, two triples and a .333 batting average.

Holly Watts (Chilton County 2014) contributed two RBIs after batting 1-for-1 at third base for the Southern Union State Community College softball program (16-28) in a 9-8 victory at Calhoun Community College (17-24) on March 29 in Decatur. On April 2, she scored one run and provided an RBI in a 6-3 triumph at home against Snead State Community College (20-25) in Game 1 of a doubleheader between the two programs in Wadley. In Game 2 of the series, she finished 1-for-2 in a 10-4 loss. For the season, she has compiled 16 RBIs, four runs scored, three doubles, two home runs, one triple and a .234 batting average.

 Kristina Caton (Chilton County 2015) batted 1-for-2 with one RBI as catcher for Shelton State Community College (30-7) in an 8-0 sweep of Central Alabama Community College (25-18) on April 5 in Tuscaloosa. For the season, the freshman has compiled 11 runs scored, seven RBIs, one home run, one double and a .295 batting average.

Brooke Lewis (Chilton County 2014) scored one run at outfield for Southern Union State Community College (16-28) in a 6-3 victory at home against Snead State Community College (20-25) in Game 1 of a doubleheader between the two programs on April 2 in Wadley. In Game 2 of the series, the sophomore scored one run in a 10-4 loss. For the season, she has totaled eight runs scored, five RBIs, one double, one stolen base and a .260 batting average.

WOMEN’S OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD

Lori Davis (Billingsley 2012) captured the No. 1 performance in the javelin among the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) after securing her 21st place finish in the event at the University of Florida Relays with a season-best launch of 133 feet, 10 inches for Alabama State University from March 31-April 2 in Gainesville, Fla.

Sarah Graham (Chilton County 2015) is a freshman at the University of West Alabama, which resumes competition at the University of Montevallo Heart of Dixie Brawl Invitational on April 8 in Montevallo. Results were not available at press time. In Graham’s most recent performance, she clinched 18th in the 5,000-meter run at the University of Montevallo Falcon Classic with a season-best time of 5 minutes, 20.11 seconds for the Tigers in a sixth place finish among the field of 12 teams from March 25-26 in Montevallo.
