Bess Nix Bentley, 92, of Thorsby, died Feb. 11 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster.

She was born on Oct. 18, 1923, in Chilton County, the daughter of the late Fabian D. Nix and the late Gladys Watkins Nix.

She was a homemaker.

Surviving are her daughter, Rebecca B. Gallups of Gulf Shores; grandsons, Stacy Finley of Gulf Shores, Clay Bentley (Julie) of Thorsby, Shane Finley (Tina) of Diamondhead, Miss.; granddaughter, Susan Anderson (J.R.) of Summerdale, Ariz. and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Bentley; daughter, Susan Bentley; son, Tom Bentley; daughter-in-law, Carole Bentley; son-in-law, Mark Gallups; granddaughter-in-law, Kelley Finley; father, Dudley Nix and mother, Gladys Nix.

Friends will be received from 5-7 p.m. Feb. 13 at Martin Funeral Home.

Services will be held Feb. 14 at 2 p.m. at Thorsby First Baptist Church with the Rev. Marc Hodges officiating.

Interment will follow in Thorsby Memorial Gardens in Thorsby.
