FRIDAY NIGHT PREVIEW: Rivalry game could swing seasons

Published 3:07 pm Thursday, October 29, 2015

Local rivals Isabella and Thorsby have had opposite experiences this season, but attitudes about the 2015 season could change quickly this week.

Thorsby has a 5-4 record, including 4-2 in region play, and the Rebels are gearing up for a berth in the Class 2A state playoffs.

Isabella, meanwhile, is 1-8 and hasn’t won a game since Week 2 of the season.

Though there will be no postseason appearance for IHS, a win over rival Thorsby on Friday could change how the season will be viewed.

And for Thorsby, a loss could suddenly darken the feelings about a successful campaign so far.

Given results so far, Thorsby would be considered a favorite in the rivalry game, but Isabella has won the last four in the series.

During that streak, the Mustangs have outscored the Rebels 165-13.

So, THS will have to reverse the recent trend to go into the playoffs with its momentum still intact.

Though 2015 has been an exciting season for Thorsby and disappointing, for the most part, for Isabella, that could change on Friday.

The game will begin at 7 p.m. at Susan Bentley Field.

It will be the last home game of the regular season for Thorsby’s seniors and the last game for Isabella’s seniors.

Who will win the Isabella-Thorsby game?
