Mustangs are area tournament champions

Isabella’s sixth-ranked volleyball team defeated Maplesville, 3-0 (25-13, 25-7 and 25-18) on Monday to claim the area tournament championship.
The all-tournament team included Tayuna Watson and Allison Jones from Maplesville; and Makaela Littleton, Caley Booth and Brianna Tyler from Isabella.
Isabella’s Jayda Jones was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.

IHS had 19 kills, led by Synia Chattman with seven. Chattman also had two blocks.
The team had 25 aces, led by Tyler with 11 and Jayda Jones with 10.
The Mustangs had 15 assists, led by Makaela Littleton with five.
Both teams advance to the regional tournament this weekend, where Isabella will play Linden on Friday at 12:45 p.m. and Maplesville will play Millry at 10:15 a.m. on Friday.
The tournament will be played in the Multiplex at Cramton Bowl in Montgomery.
