Birmingham woman dies in single-vehicle crash

A 58-year-old Birmingham woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash early Monday morning on Interstate 65 near the 202 Mile Marker.

Pamela Ann Rodgers, 58, was killed when the 2004 Ford Explorer in which she was a passenger left the roadway, struck a ditch and overturned, according to a press release from the Alabama State Troopers.

Rodgers, who was not using a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash occurred at the 202 Mile Marker at 2:30 a.m., just three miles south of Clanton, the release said.

The driver of the vehicle was injured and transported to UAB.

Both southbound lanes of the interstate were closed but were cleared just before 7 a.m.
