Verbena suffered its first defeat of the season, 24-20, at Loachapoka on Friday.

Dorrian Parker scored twice for the Red Devils (2-1, 1-1), once on a kickoff return for a touchdown and a second time on a pass from Tristan Short to pull the visitors to within four points of the lead.

Also scoring for VHS was Chris Cook, on a run around the left side for six points.

The win gives Loachapoka (2-1, 2-0) early control of Class 1A, Region 3.
