Visiting Pickens County shut out Thorsby on Friday, 14-0, at Susan Bentley Field.

A 38-yard run by Pickens County with 5:38 remaining in first quarter gave the Tornadoes a 6-0 lead, after an unsuccessful two-point conversion attempt.

The Rebels defense would then stiffen, but unfortunately, the hosts couldn’t get anything going on offense.

THS (1-2, 0-1 region) drove into the Pickens red zone, but an interception by Kwan Betts ended the threat.

What would have been a 70-yard touchdown play for Pickens was called back because of a penalty with 1:18 remaining on the clock.

The first half ended with Pickens throwing an interception on Thorsby’s five-yard line.

With 9:26 on the clock in the third quarter, Pickens used a 59-yard run by Zach Thomas and an extra point to take a 14-0 lead.

The teams traded turnovers, but Thorsby could never threaten.
