“We hope to have everything up and running within the next six to eight weeks,” Bertolone Italian Café owner Sonia Bertolone-Carrillo said. “We are taking possession of the building this week, and we will get in there and get things ready to open.”

The café owners previously owned Joe’s Italian in Alabaster but sold the business in September 2014.

Bertolone-Carrillo said the new restaurant in Clanton will feature a casual atmosphere, similar to a café with lunch and dinner options available Monday-Saturday and a brunch/lunch option available on Sundays.

“We will offer a lot of desserts and typical traditional Italian entrees,” Bertolone-Carrillo said. “We will have some space limitations because of the building we will be in, but I anticipate it will be a casual, vibrant restaurant.”

Bertolone-Carrillo anticipates formulating a menu within the next couple of weeks.

Bertolone-Carrillo said she decided to open a location in Clanton due to her love of the city.

“I have always loved Clanton,” Bertolone-Carrillo said. “I live in Montevallo, and I have always loved the small-town feel Clanton has, so I was very excited when the opportunity came up for us to be able to open a restaurant in Clanton.”

Bertolone-Carrillo said she is working to set up various social media accounts so customers can stay up-to-date with things going on at the restaurant.

“I am a firm believer in social media,” Bertolone-Carrillo said. “We are planning on being a modern operation as far as keeping up with people through various platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and Instagram. We are hoping once we are open that word of mouth will spread and people will come and enjoy what we have to offer at the restaurant. Our family knows how to cook and please people, and we put 150 percent of love and effort into our food. We are just really excited about this opportunity.”
