Tomlyn Emfinger Mathews Parrish

Tomlyn Emfinger Mathews Parrish, 85, of Aldridge, passed away at her son’s home in Jemison surrounded by her family on July 1.

She is survived by her sons, Jimmie Lee Emfinger (Janie) of Centreville and Lyn Emfinger (Mary Jane) of Jemison; stepson, Walter Mathews (Ginger) of Montevallo; five grandchildren and four-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Thomas McGaughy and Lyda Hubbard McGaughy; her first husband and father of her three sons, Milton Leeford Emfinger; her second husband, Doyle Lee Mathews; her third husband, Raymond Mims Parrish; her oldest son, John Milton Emfinger; and stepson, Eddie Mathews.

Tomlyn was a member of the Baptist faith, and a proud member of the Montevallo Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She was retired from the University of Montevallo.

Pallbearers for Tomlyn’s service were Tom Emfinger, John Emfinger, Shane Darden, Lawson Darden, Greg Mathews and Chris Walton.

Private graveside services were held at the Montevallo City Cemetery on July 3. The family would like to say a special thank you to the Gentiva Hospice of Clanton and all the staff.
