Miss Chilton County Kristen Robbins will compete in the Miss Alabama Pageant, to be held June 3-6th at the Wright Center at Samford University.

Robbins said she’s looking forward to her first Miss Alabama experience.

“I’m just happy to be a part of a wonderful organization, and I’m happy to be representing Chilton County,” she said.

Robbins and the 49 other contestants will move into their living quarters on Samford’s campus Sunday morning and will begin their pageant preparation activities immediately.

The first group appearance they will make during the week will be the autograph signing party at Brookwood Mall at 12:30 p.m. May 31. The public is welcome to attend this event and meet the contestants.

Robbins said she has met most of the other contestants through workshops, a service project and a camping trip at Camp Winnataska in Pell City.

“Everyone was wonderful and super supportive,” Robbins said.

On June 1, contestants will be hostesses at the annual Miss Alabama golf tournament, which will be held at the Oxmoor Robert Trent Jones golf course.

On June 2, the ladies will have private interviews with the pageant judges, as well as a separate interview with a panel of individuals from the academic community who will determine scholarship awards.

At 7:30 p.m. June 3-6, the ladies will compete in preliminary rounds.

The top 10 will be announced the night of June 6; those 10 ladies will once again participate in the evening wear, talent, swimsuit and onstage question portions of the pageant.

The new Miss Alabama will be crowned at the end of Saturday night’s pageant.

Robbins’ friends and family were scheduled to throw her a sendoff party on Saturday.

“I’m excited to go,” she said. “It’s been a lot of work, but I think I’m prepared and ready.”
