In a ceremony at Chilton County High School last week, standout cornerback Keandre Binion signed on to play for Culver-Stockton College in Missouri.

Binion received a full ride to Culver for his prowess on the field and in the classroom, where he finished the year with a 3.3 GPA.

On the field, Binion logged six interceptions, forced five fumbles and recovered another five and was the second leading receiver for the team.

“He was captain of the team, and he was always motivated and always in a good mood,” said CCHS coach Brian Bradford. “He was great on both sides of the ball, which really says a lot about his athletic ability.”

“I liked the way they recruited,” Binion said of his decision to play for Culver. “They made me feel like I was wanted.”

“We were all very excited,” said proud father Carl Binion. “It’s a great opportunity.”

While in Missouri, Binion plans to study account management.

“I really like mathematics,” Binion said. “I wanted to do something business-wise.”

Bradford is confident his young athlete will play well at the college level.

“I think he’ll do outstanding,” Bradford said. “I think once he gets into a system he’ll be great.”

The fact that he will be far from home isn’t lost on Binion.

“I know I’m going to be homesick, but I’m going to get through it,” Binion said.

Although he is just beginning his tenure as a college athlete, Binion already has a plan for the future.

“I definitely hope to go pro,” Binion said. “But if that doesn’t work out, I’m going to work in accounts and one day open my own business. I’ve definitely got a plan.”

“Keandre will be successful at whatever he decides to do,” Bradford said. “That’s just what kind of kid he is.”
