Theron Embry Dyer

Theron Embry “Ted” Dyer, 87, of Clanton, passed away May 15.

He was born on Oct. 2, 1927, in Shelby County, the son of the late Cleveland Dyer and the late Oner Gill.

He was an aerospace engineer.

Surviving are his wife, Bessie Dyer of Clanton; daughters, Terry Tate (Gary) of Clanton, Trayce Cain (Chris Chancellor) of Clanton; grandson, Michael Tate (Carol) of Hoover; granddaughters, Megan Jones (Brian) of Clanton, Courtney Driver (Dewayne) of Clanton; great-grandsons, Ben Jones of Clanton, Kendall Driver of Clanton; step-great-granddaughter, Lilly Driver of Clanton; sister-in-law, Virginia Dyer of Alabaster and a host of nieces, nephews and other family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cleveland and Oner Dyer; brother, O.C. Dyer; sister, Wilma Dyer Albright and brother-in-law, R.J. Albright.

Friends will be received from 10:30 a.m. until noon May 19 at Martin Funeral Home.

Services will be held May 19 at noon at Martin Chapel with the Rev. Bill King officiating.

Private interment will follow in Martin Memorial Cemetery in Clanton.
