Care Net to sponsor Baby Bottle Campaign beginning May 10

Care Net Pregnancy Resource Center’s annual Baby Bottle Campaign will begin May 10.

The campaign is one of Care Net’s largest and most lucrative fundraisers each year, and proceeds from it pay for services the center provides for women facing difficult decisions or situations regarding unplanned pregnancies.

Care Net Executive Director Susan Scott said the campaign has been held every year since 2006.

The concept behind the Baby Bottle Campaign is for participants to take home baby bottles, fill them with change and give them back to the center.

Participation is usually through churches, although Scott said other organizations and individuals are welcome to participate.

“People can just take a bottle home and fill it with change,” Scott said.

Scott said money in any form—checks, cash or other—is needed to pay for the center’s services including ultrasounds, post-abortion counseling, adoption counseling, abstinence seminars and Bible study classes.

Those planning to participate in the campaign can receive a bottle around Mother’s Day on May 10 and then return the bottles to their churches, organizations or Care Net by Father’s Day on June 21.

“We would love to have participation from 100 percent of Chilton County churches,” Scott said. “Realistically, we only have participation from 23 percent each year. This is God’s ministry. It is not simply a ‘worthy cause.’ We are actively doing God’s work on a daily basis. Each and every human life is valuable to God. Supporting Care Net, God’s ministry to Chilton County women facing crisis pregnancies is doing God’s work.”

Scott said typically, the campaign raises about $14,000 each year, but Care Net has raised as much as $19,000.

Scott said bottles can be picked up at participating churches on May 10, but if no bottles are available at a church, individuals can call 755-6767 to pick up a bottle.

Care Net Pregnancy Resource Center is located at 1622 Seventh St. N. Suite 134 in Clanton.

Care Net is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
