A wreck on Interstate 65 in Chilton County early Tuesday morning resulted in a Tuscaloosa woman being airlifted to UAB Hospital.

Authorities in Chilton County including the Clanton Police Department and Clanton Fire Department were dispatched to a single-vehicle wreck on I-65 Southbound near Exit 212 around 12:30 a.m.

Clanton Fire Chief David Driver said the female occupant was trapped in the car after her vehicle ran off the side of the road.

Driver said it took authorities around 10-15 minutes to get her out of the car, and she was airlifted to UAB with critical injuries.

Members of the Clanton Traffic Homicide Department are investigating the case and should have more information available later this week regarding the cause of the wreck and condition of the female.

Authorities declined to release the name of the female but did confirm she was from Tuscaloosa.
