Jackson Chapel Church

Bro. Gary Fant got the morning service started off with “The Unclouded Day” and “Just Over in the Glory Land. Following the congregational singing, Bro. Gary Fant blessed us with a beautiful song.

Bro. Reburn’s text came from Psalm 8:1-9. His sermon reminded us that we are created in the image of God and we should live like it. We want to live like hell itself through the week, and on Sunday we want to live for God, but it doesn’t work like that. If we are truly children of God, we will want to live for him every day.

When we become a child of God, we become a new creature and no longer have to live under the bondage of sin. Satan will throw many things out there to tempt us with what we know isn’t right, so we have to be prayed up; that way, when Satan throws his curves, we can stand up for what we know is right.

Bro. Gary Fant got the evening service started off with “Footsteps of Jesus” and “Glory to His Name.” Bro. Reburn’s text came from Romans 8:14-17.

As Christians, our spirit bears witness with one another when we are children of God. When we begin to step out on faith and truly worship God, we will see God begin to bless us in ways that we could never imagine. We need to always give God all the praise and glory because he is worthy of our praise. As we go about our daily lives we need to live our lives in a way that lets other people know we are children of God.

Happy birthday to Russell Carroll.

Please remember these as you pray this week: Samuel Burnett, Glenda Hill, Angie Caudle’s mom, Justin Caudle, Faye Baker, Wayne Cobb, our service men and women and our lost loved ones.

Samaria Baptist Church

Bobby Patterson blessed us in song with “How Great Thou Art.”

Prayer concerns today are for the Wyatt Gant family, Jacob Jamison, the Price family, the Jarvis family, the Johnson family, Ms. Silas, Lauren Wyatt, Jennifer Whatley, James Cleckler, baby Elle Campbell and her family, as well as our military men and women, and the leaders of our nation.

Bro. Shane brought a message from God titled “Devices of the Devil” in which he stated that it is imperative that we know who and what our enemies are.

To know victory over Satan, we must recognize the devices he uses to deceive us. 2 Corinthians tells us how to do this, and it tells us how to prepare for the fiery darts of Satan. God has the power to handle anything that comes against us, but we often get childish when things don’t go our way.

Disappointment is one of the trappings of Satan. He uses it to keep us down and out, but faith and trust in the Father can defeat this kind of device. We become discouraged and negative when problems seem insurmountable.

The devil knows what our weaknesses are, and that is what he will attack most often. God is in control, and we have to learn how to let go and let him bring us through discouragement. So often we think we have it so bad, but if we just think about others who suffer much more than we do, we can lay our own negativity down.

The main weapon of Satan is making us feel helpless. If we are filled with despair, then we won’t call upon the Master because we feel as though we don’t deserve his help. When there is trouble and there seems to be no way out, Jesus Christ is the only way. We know this from the beginning, but how often do we put our trust in money, jobs, people and circumstances rather than our Father who promised that he would never leave us?

When we turn to sources of strength other than God for help, we can often find ourselves in a state of disobedience. Allowing Satan to drive us away from what we know is right and what God wants for us is the pinnacle of disobedience. There is no peace in the life of those who choose to disobey our Lord and Savior.

Hard times will always come upon us while we are on earth, but we must never allow ourselves to turn against God. James says a double-minded man is unstable in all his ways. If we draw nigh to God, he will draw nigh unto us.

God bless all who read this message. We invite you to join us at Samaria for a blessing from our Savior.
