James Walter Dunigan, 67, of Clanton, passed away on Feb. 21.

He was a faithful member of New Bethel Baptist Church in Clanton.

He was born in Clanton to the late Willie Vester and Louise Dunigan.

He is survived by his loving wife, Gertie Mae Dunigan; daughters, Sonya (Rick) Caver-Barksdale of Trenton, N.J., Kendra (LeKeith) Williams of Clanton and Tranecee (Kenneth) Stone of Montgomery; a son, James (Wahnita) Dunigan of Clanton; a brother, George Dunigan of Jesup, Ga.; four sisters, Willie B. Tinsley, Lois Allison, Dorothy Campbell, and Mary Dunigan, all of Clanton; 20 grandchildren; one great-grandchild and a host of loving relatives and friends.

A special thanks to George Dunigan, a dedicated brother who stood by his brother’s side through his illness; a dedicated brother-in-law, Jerome Underwood; a dedicated daughter and nurse, Tranecee Stone; and he was a father figure to Glenn Swindle.

Visitation will be held on Feb. 27 at Morning Star Baptist Church, Clanton, AL from 11 a.m.-noon.

Funeral services will be held on Feb. 27 at noon at Morning Star Baptist Church of Clanton.

Interment will be at Agee Memory Gardens in Clanton. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to The American Legion‚ The 23rd District and Post 343, 512 English Street, Clanton, AL., 35045.
