Funeral services for Mrs. Marie Thompson Nabors, 72, of Alexander City will be Friday, Feb. 27, 2015, at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Alexander City.

Burial will follow in the Mulberry Baptist Church Cemetery in Isabella. The family will receive friends on Friday, Feb. 27 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church.

Nabors passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 24 in Alexander City. She was born on July 28, 1942, in Columbia, Tenn. to E.O. Thompson and Willie Lee Thompson.

Nabors graduated from Columbia Central High School in Columbia, Tenn.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Alexander City. She was a longtime, active member of the Alexander City community and generously volunteered her time to many organizations and clubs. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She will be missed by her family and the many dear friends that she leaves behind.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, James Douglas Nabors of Alexander City; sons, James Douglas Nabors, Jr. (Bradley) of Birmingham, John David Nabors (Susan) of Birmingham and Christopher Thompson Nabors (Amy) of Waverly; grandchildren, James Douglas Nabors III, John David Nabors Jr., Mary Chapman Nabors, Elizabeth Marie Nabors, William Kenneth Nabors and Samuel Halaway Nabors; sisters, Norma Jean Shotwell of Franklin, Tenn. and Suzanne Jones of Columbia, Tenn.; and brother Waid Thompson of New Orleans, La.
