Authorities arrested two suspects Tuesday on drug charges in Chilton County after a vehicle pursuit ended on County Road 28.

Aaron Jessie Cook, 21, of Clanton and Christina Dee Harper, 20, of Verbena, were charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana in the first degree and illegal possession of prescription medication, according to a release from the Chilton County Sheriff’s Department.

Cook was also charged with attempting to elude police.

Both suspects were transported to the Chilton County Jail, where they are awaiting bond.

The incident began at 7:49 p.m. when Cpl. Jessica Mims with the Chilton County Sheriff’s Department attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a Ford Mustang that was speeding.

When Mims turned on her emergency lights, the vehicle attempted to flee, according to the release.

During the pursuit, the vehicle crossed over County Road 459 onto County Road 28 in Clanton. While on County Road 459, authorities observed the driver throwing an “object” out of the window of the vehicle into a creek.

The vehicle was eventually stopped on County Road 28 by Mims and assisting deputies, the release said.

Cook, the driver of the vehicle and Harper, the passenger in the vehicle, were taken into custody and deputies responded to locate the object in the creek.

Deputies located a bag containing prescription medication, marijuana, and crystal methamphetamine.
