John Bealie Deramus Jr.

John Bealie Deramus Jr. passed away at his home in Clanton on Feb. 6.

He was born on Oct. 25, 1933, the son of John and Kathleen Mullins Deramus, and grew up in Clanton.

He graduated from Chilton County High School and the University of Alabama, where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity.

After graduation, he served as an officer in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Japan.

Completing his tour of duty, Deramus worked for Thornton, Mohr and Farish, in Montgomery, the First National Bank of Atlanta in Atlanta, Ga., and Birmingham Trust National Bank in Birmingham.

He retired from the latter and returned to his family home in Clanton.

His many interests included music and art. He enjoyed visiting art museums and galleries around the South and the Northeast, and attending concerts whenever possible.

He is survived by his sister, Alice Deramus Jackson of Atlanta, Ga., and many cousins and friends.

Burial was a graveside service in Clanton on Feb. 8.
