Five people were killed in a two-vehicle crash on Alabama Highway 22 in Chilton County on Saturday.

The crash occurred at 1:15 p.m. on Highway 22 at County Road 516, seven miles south of Clanton.

Alabama State Troopers and emergency personnel are investigating the crash, which happened at 1:30 p.m. on Highway 22 at County Road 516.

A 2014 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck collided head-on with a 2014 Nissan Rogue, according to a press release from Alabama State Troopers.

Quentin Anthony Buford, 36, of New Iberia, La., and Christina Robinson Deramus, 37, of Wetumpka, were killed when the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Buford collided head-on with the 2014 Nissan Rogue driven by Deramus.

Three passengers in the Chevrolet also died in the crash: Robert Paul Gallet, 50; Damian Lee Gallet, 23; and Devan Jerica Gallet, 21; all from Billingsley, were pronounced dead at the scene by Chilton County Coroner Aaron Ellison, according to the release.

Seat belts were not in use at the time of the crash, the release said.

No additional information was available as state troopers continue to investigate.
