Peggy B. Jones

Peggy B. Jones, 83, of Clanton, passed away suddenly Dec. 10 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center.

Jones was born in Kinston, North Carolina, on Oct. 20, 1931, the daughter of Isaac Earl and Drucilla Brown.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Jake Jones; two sisters Helen and Emily; two brothers Earl and Teddy.

She is survived by two brothers, Jamie Brown, and Billy Brown; six children, Donna Wyatt, Beverly Stone, Rhonda (Ray) Hardesty, Cheryl (Dave) Watson, Michelle Maddox (Jim McDowell), and Len Jones; grandchildren, Khristi (Barry) Shelton, Kevin Wyatt, Stephanie Stone, Tara (Shafer) Gaston, Tres (Ashley) Watson, Matt Maddox, Malia (C.J.) Robinson; and seven great-grandchildren.

Jones retired from the State of Alabama Finance Department as the first female purchasing agent.

After retirement, she traveled extensively with the Chilton County Travel Club serving as an officer for several years.

Later, she moved to the Gardens of Clanton where she was surrounded by many friends. 

Visitation for friends and family will take place Dec. 11, from 6-8 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel.  On Dec. 12, at 2 p.m. a memorial service will be held in the Chapel officiated by the Rev. Tony Smitherman.  Following the service, Jones will be laid to rest at Chilton Memorial Gardens.
