Patricia Ann Ammons, passed away Dec. 7.

Ammons was born in Chilton County on Dec. 8, 1933.

She graduated from Jemison High School. She lived in Birmingham all of her life. Ammons worked as an accounts payable bookkeeper for several companies in Birmingham. She recently retired from Alabama Crankshaft at the age of 80. She was a lover of Alabama football, but her greatest hobby was showing love to her friends and family. Also, she worked in the nursery at Green Valley Baptist Church for 30 years where she invested in the lives of many families and their children. “Mama Pat” spent her lifetime working hard and showing love to her family, friends, and everyone she knew.

Ammons is preceded in death by her parents, John Turner Gamble and Ethel Gamble; brother, John Turner Gamble, Jr.; sister, Benny Jean Peters; brother-in-law, Ernest Peters; aunt, Sally Johnson; and dear family friend, Rudy Warth. She is survived by her son, Stan Ammons (Joy); daughters, Suzie Ammons Houghton (Mark) and Sally Ammons Doak (Steve); grandchildren, Leigh Ann Pearson (Bryan), Candace Houghton, Stephen Houghton, Micah Houghton, Daniel Doak, Hannah Doak and Jacob Doak; great granddaughter, Sophie Marie Pearson; sister-in-law, Karen Gamble; friend, Virginia Doak; and numerous other loving family members and friends.

The celebration of Ammons’ life will be at 2 p.m. on Dec. 9, at Green Valley Baptist Church in Hoover, with burial following at Southern Heritage Cemetery in Pelham. The family will receive friends prior to the service at a visitation from noon until 2 p.m.
